Week 7 College Football Pick: Rutgers vs. Louisville 2013

Teddy Bridgewater LouisvilleWeek 7 College Football Picks: Rutgers Scarlet Knights @ Louisville Cardinals: The 2013 college football season is expected to be a walk in the park for the Louisville Cardinals, but if they are going to come up against any adversity around the halfway point of the season, it is going to come this week against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, who are hoping to push them for the third straight season.

The Cardinals are rightfully huge favorites in this one at -17, but is this college football point spread just too big? We have a feeling that it is going to be, especially on the short week that is ahead for both of these outfits, giving neither one all that much time to prepare.

When you look at everything that the Cardinals bring to the table, you see the full package. They don’t turn the ball over, they have a talented offense with an embarrassment of riches at the wide receiver position and a legitimate starting quarterback in the NFL in QB Teddy Bridgewater, and they have the #1 ranked scoring defense in America that ranks fourth in the land in both pass defense and rush defense. Simply put, the argument could be made that there are no holes in this club, save for the fact that the schedule is awfully weak. If you look past that though, it’s tough to want to back anyone against the Cardinals on the NCAA football betting lines.

However, Rutgers is a team that we think can hang around. QB Gary Nova has surprisingly been very good this season with 13 TDs against just four picks, and the ground game for the Scarlet Knights has been better than most would think. Not only does this team have one running back that is averaging over six yards per carry, but it has two men in both RB Paul James and RB Justin Goodwin that are good for at least six yards per tote. Add in there a defense that statistically looks horrid because of two overtime games, and you’ve got a really good recipe for success in this one. Rutgers has hung around each of the last two seasons against Louisville, and there is a darn good chance that this will be the third one of these games on Thursday night.
