Week 7 NFL Free Picks: Vikings @ Giants 10/21/13 | Total Choice Sports Picks

Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Giants Free Pick & Predictions 10/21/13

Josh Freeman VikesMonday Night Football Pick: Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Giants 10/21: For as great as all of the games are going to be on Sunday, perhaps the dog game of the bunch is Monday Night Football. The New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings will go to battle in the last game of the week, and it’s certainly not one that is going to go down in the memory banks.

The Giants might not have a win this year, but they are laying 3.5 against the Vikes at home. That’s proof for how bad this game is by itself, but a ‘total’ of 46.5 on the MNF odds with a team that is playing with its third starting quarterback of the season probably isn’t helping matters much either.

The assumption is just sort of there that the Giants are winning this game. They might be 0-6, but there’s no way that they could be this bad… right? Well, maybe not so much. It is clear that with QB Josh Freeman playing in his first game just 12 days after signing with the Vikes that RB Adrian Peterson is going to run the ball just a ton in this one. All Day hasn’t had a great year, but we know that regardless of the situation, he’s striving to put up a 200+ yard game each and every day. New York isn’t just turning the ball over a ton, but it can’t stop the run either. That’s what’s really getting this team killed on the back end in the secondary. Freeman has a good deep ball, and if he is only asked to throw straight line passes down the field off of play fakes, the G-Men are going to be in some trouble.

There’s also that sense that playing this game at home might not be helping the Giants. The crowd is really getting on the case of Head Coach Tom Coughlin. The two games that the Giants played that were close were both on the road. These two home games have resulted in 18 and 15 point losses and a heck of a lot of booing coming from the fans clad in blue. There’s a point that New York will just give up on this season, and we’re wondering if it isn’t there. So why not take the points in a crapshoot of a game like this one? The Vikings are clearly one of the sharpest sides of the week, and the Monday Night Football bug isn’t going to make New York any more sharp, knowing that every square is going to jump on this one at the last minute, so it really is the perfect play. Even if the Vikings don’t win this game, we still have a 3.5-point safety net on our side. A 24-21 Giants win is a very real possibility.
