Sunday NFL analysis: The New York Giants will head to North Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys in a key NFC East matchup from AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Dallas Cowboys are without a doubt the surprise of this season. The Cowboys sit atop the NFC East at 5-1, and are cruising. Dallas feature as solid rushing attack behind what could be the league’s premier offensive line. Demarco Murray is leading the league in rushing with 785 yards and averaging 7.4 yards per carry. With a solid offensive line, Tony Romo has had the time to make throws, completing 68% of his passes for 1510 yards with 11 touchdowns. The Cowboys defense has been an even bigger surprise as defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli has done an excellent job with the personnel he has. Granted, their not a top tier defense, but they are making plays when they have to and have 10 takeaways this season. The Cowboys have had quite a stretch of games, and are coming off a monumental win over Seattle where they dominated the Seahawks in a 30-23 victory.

The New York Giants come into Sunday’s matchup at 3-3, and are coming off an embarrassing 27-0 loss to Philadelphia last Sunday night. The Giants started off the season at 0-2 and looked like an absolute dumpster fire on offense with their new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, yet they got on track and looked to be clicking, winning three straight in impressive fashion before Sunday night’s debacle in Philadelphia. They lost Victor Cruz for the season with a knee injury, and he will most certainly be missed. The Giants do have a lot of wide receivers to fill the void, with Reuben Randall and rookie Odell Beckham Jr., as well as tight end Larry Donnell, who at 6’6″ is a huge target and an emerging presence in the offense. The defense can get the job done, but has been inconsistent at times. They most certainly have the talent with a defensive line anchored by Jason Pierre-Paul, and a respectable secondary with Prince Amukamara and Antrel Rolle.

How many times have we seen the Giants in this situation? The Giants are currently 3-3 and can ill-afford to fall down further in the division. The Cowboys are coming off one of the biggest wins in recent history and Seattle, and I don’t think we get their best effort today. One key note to point out, running back Demarco Murray did not practice all week, and has been prone to fumbling in the past. I would expect the Giants defense to look for ways to strip the ball. The Giants are an excellent road dog, and Dallas is a terrible home favorite. The look ahead line for this game was -3, and now after last Sunday’s results I’m getting more than a field goal? Sign me up. I always say that in the NFL you have to forget what you saw last week. The Giants are certainly better than their last performance, and I don’t expect Dallas to replicate their performance against Seattle, and I have to remind you that Seattle was coming off a Monday night win, so I don’t put as much stock into that win as others do. I’ll grab the points with the New York Giants, and feel very confident in doing so as Eli Manning is 4-1 in AT&T stadium all time.
