Sunday Seahawks/49ers NFL game analysis: The 11-1 Seattle Seahawks and 8-4 San Francisco 49ers meet on Sunday in an NFC West clash.

Seattle looked nothing short of unstoppable as they dominated New Orleans last Monday night winning 34-7. They now have to regroup and go on the road to meet one of their division rivals that they met in week 2, winning 29-3. Seattle’s offense is well balanced, averaging 218 yards through the air and 146 yards on the ground per game. Russell Wilson is having an exceptional season, and has been thrown into the MVP talk. Wilson has completed 64.9% of his passes for 2672 yards with 22 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, and has a quarterback rating of 108.5. Marshawn Lynch is one of the better running backs in the league, and has rushed for 970 yards with 9 touchdowns and is averaging 4.3 yards per carry. Wilson has plenty of capable receivers, in Golden Tate (46 rec 645 yds), Doug Baldwin (40 rec 663 yds). Seattle currently boasts the league’s best defense, allowing 177.3 yards per game through the air and 107.2 yards rushing. They are first in the league in takeaways with 27, and can rush the passer as they’ve registered 34 sacks on the year.

San Francisco currently sits at 8-4 and holds the #6 seed for the playoffs. This isn’t the same 49er team that faced Seattle in week 2. Back for the offense are Mario Manningham and Michael Crabtree. Crabtree made his return last week in a 23-13 win over St. Louis, with 2 receptions for 68 yards. One of his receptions was for 60 yards. That was the second longest passing play this season for the Niners. Colin Kaepernick looked very effective last week with a full arsenal of weapons against a solid Rams defense. Kaepernick was 19 for 28 with 275 yards which was his highest passing total since week 1. Frank Gore leads a potent rushing attack that is 7th in the league averaging 130.8 yards per game. The defense continues to play at a high level. The 49ers are ranked 4th in the league in total defense, allowing only 206 yards passing and 105.5 yards rushing per game.

Do not put any stock into the previous matchup, because this one will be a lot more competitive. In the previous matchup, Seattle corner Richard Sherman took 49er wide receiver Anquan Boldin out of the game, which led Colin Kaepernick to make mistakes. San Francisco now has a much more complete offense, with Crabtree and Manningham in the mix. Seattle will again be without corners Walter Thurmond (suspension) and Brandon Browner (groin). San Francisco’s defense will be up the task this week of limiting Marshawn Lynch, and should do enough to cause Russell Wilson some problems. Seattle currently has a 2 game lead for the #1 seed and has already clinched a playoff berth and might be feeling a little overconfident. San Francisco has a 1 game lead for the final wildcard sport and can’t afford another loss. I expect a focused effort from the 49ers on Sunday, and with the home crowd behind them and their offense starting to click, I see them getting the win here.
