Sunday NFL analysis: Two AFC North intrastate rivals clash on Sunday as the 4–5 Cleveland Browns take on the 6–4 Cincinnati Bengals.

Cincinnati has been struggling as of late, losers of two in a row due in part to inconsistent quarterback play and injuries on the defensive side of the ball. In those two games the Bengals rallied from to score deficit deficits, only to lose in overtime on a walk off safety against Miami and a field goal against Baltimore. Since the Bengals 49-9 blowout over the New York Jets, Andy Dalton has struggled mightily completing 53% of his passes for 612 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions.

Although the Bengals have lost two in a row their offense as a whole has been consistent this season. The emergence of rookie running back Giovanni Bernard has definitely given this offense a boost. Wide receiver A.J. Green is having a spectacular season, with 65 receptions for 1013 yards and six touchdowns.

The Bengals defense is one of the better defensive units in the league giving up an average of 209.4 yards through the air and allowing 102 yards on the ground for contest. They did suffer a major loss in the game against Miami, as defensive tackle Geno Atkins was lost for the year.

The Cleveland Browns have been a pleasant surprise this year. At the beginning of the year, it had looked like Cleveland had found their starting quarterback in veteran Brian Hoyer. Unfortunately Hoyer was placed on injured reserve after suffering an ACL injury in a win against Buffalo. Veteran Jason Campbell has taken over the starting job and Cleveland is back to playing some very competitive football.
The Browns are coming off their bye week and a 24–18 victory over the division rival Baltimore Ravens, the week before the Browns fought the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs tooth and nail only to lose by six points. The Browns have some offensive weapons in the passing game. Wide receiver Josh Gordon has emerged as the team’s leading receiver averaging 17.9 yards per reception. Jordan Cameron has also emerged as a top target with 600 yards and 6 touchdowns.

On defense, the Browns are tough to run the ball against allowing only 98.2 yards per game. Cleveland can also get after the quarterback as they are fifth in the NFL in sacks with 31.

Cleveland one the previous matchup this season 17–6, however that was with quarterback Brian Boyer at the helm. The Browns should be able to be competitive in this matchup and are sure to put star cornerback Joe Haden on A.J. Green throughout the game. After a 6–2 start Cincinnati has seen their division lead dwindle, and their backs are against the wall here. Cincinnati will get the win here with their home crowd behind them, however Cleveland will make it a very difficult task.
