Monday NFL analysis: The 0-8 Tampa Bay Buccaneers try to get their first win of the season on Monday night football as they host the 4-4 Miami Dolphins.Monday Night Football Week 10 Free Picks

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers season has been marred with controversy that has resulted in futility. The controversy started when it was rumored that head coach Greg Schiano had rigged the captaincy vote so that quarterback Josh Freeman would not be a captain. Then reports surfaced that Darrelle Revis, the newly acquired all-pro cornerback, was unhappy with Schiano’s coaching disciplined coaching style. Now ten weeks into the NFL season, the Bucs are winless and Josh Freeman is in Minnesota after his abrupt release. It’s most likely only a matter of time before Schiano is fired, however the Buccaneers showed some fight last week, nearly upsetting the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle. Rookie quarterback Mike Glennon has actually done an admirable job. In his 5 starts, Glennon has completed 60% of his passes for 1165 yards with 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Last year, Doug Martin exploded on to the scene, but this year he had only averaged 3.6 yards per carry before being placed on injured reserve. Rookie Mike James has picked up the slack in his absence. Against Seattle, James showed promise rushing for 158 yards on 28 carries and also throwing a ‘Tebowesque’ 2 yard touchdown to tight end Tom Crabtree. Tampa Bay’s defense is actually respectable, ranking twelfth in the league in total defense.

Chances are if you listen to sports radio, then you know what’s going on in Miami. The main story hasn’t been the Dolphins breaking their three game losing streak. Instead it’s a soap opera starring Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin. Reports surfaced of Incognito bullying Martin to the point that Martin left the team. When texts and voicemails to Martin from Incognito were discovered, Incognito was suspended indefinitely. While all this is going on, they stand at 4-4 and in third in the AFC West.  The Dolphins are coming off an overtime win against Cincinnati, where defensive end Cameron Wake had a walk off safety to seal a 22-20 victory.

Monday night’s matchup is probably one of the most intriguing matchups between subpar teams in recent years. You have the Buccaneers, who are winless and are not the biggest fans of their coach. Then you have the Miami Dolphins, a team with a locker room divided and an organization that has tabloids camped outside their headquarters. Even though the Buccaneers can’t stand their coach, no team in the NFL wants to go 0-16. This might be the best opportunity for the Bucs to get their first win. Ryan Tannehill has been sacked a league high 35 times. Losing Incognito and losing continuity on the offensive line can’t be a good thing for the Dolphins. I expect the Buccaneers out fired up on Monday night and get their first win against a team in turmoil.
