Sunday NFL analysis: The 4-2 Baltimore Ravens take on the struggling 2-4 Atlanta Falcons from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore Maryland.

Last season the Atlanta Falcons had one of their worst seasons in recent memory as they were hit hard with injuries. They were thought to be improved this season, with an offense led by Matt Ryan and two explosive receivers in Julio Jones and Roddy White. Well, that hasn’t been the case, as the Falcons are 2-4 and have lost 3 straight, recently losing at home last Sunday to Chicago 27-13. Their offense is doing the job, averaging 410 yards per game and ranking 6th in the league in scoring. Their defense however, is their Achilles heal, as they’re the 31st ranked team in the league in total defense. The Flacons haven’t had the toughest schedule either, as their opponents have a combined record of 14-19.

The Baltimore Ravens have been playing some good football as of late, and have won 4 of their last 5 after losing their home opener to Cincinnati. They are coming off a dominating performance on the road, crushing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 48-17 behind a 21 for 29 309 yard and 5 touchdown performance by quarterback Joe Flacco. The addition of Steve Smith Sr. has given the Ravens quite the formidable wider receiving tandem. They are very balanced offensively, ranking 8th in the league in total offense, averaging 257 yards passing and 138 yards rushing per game. They are not the dominant Ravens defense we’ve become accustomed to, but are strong against the run and have the NFL’s 3rd best scoring defense.

These two teams are going in opposite directions and I have to lay the points here with Baltimore. Atlanta might be putting up the numbers offensively, but they have had their struggles on their offensive line. If Atlanta can’t establish the run and be balanced on offense, I don’t see them being one dimensional on offense and being successful against the stout front four of Baltimore. Atlanta has one of the worst defenses in the league, and I don’t see their corners being able to match up with Baltimore. Baltimore should win this handily laying less than a touchdown against a Falcons team that is 0-3 on the road losing by an average of 12.3 points per game. Sometimes you have to ride streaks, the winning ones, and the losing ones. Atlanta just can’t be trusted with the way they’re playing.

As a very passionate sports fanatic since childhood, he’s a spirited sports handicapper of the purest form. Dawkins uses all the tools available to him to practice different types of situational handicapping and to develop systems. Chad uses all of this to pick winners and find value where the sports betting public doesn’t see it. Recently, Dawkins has been contributing on several top websites. He’s been a long time (5+ year) member and often shares his insights on the Cappersinfo.com forums; whom we would like to thank for recommending Chad to Total Choice Sports Picks. He has a solid understanding of how the daily lines are set by the oddsmakers, what moves the line, influences the public; and just has a solid feel for the betting market in general.
