Wednesday NBA Playoff Analysis: The Miami Heat will look to clinch a berth in the NBA Finals on Wednesday night when they take on the Indiana Pacers in game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals from Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Judging by what you saw in game 1 of this series, you would have thought this conference final would have been more competitive. Since the win by Indiana in game 1, the Miami Heat have reeled off 3 straight wins, and look to close the series out tonight on the Pacers’ home floor. In game 4, Miami stormed out to a 10-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back en route to a 102-90 win. LeBron James led the way with 32 points while grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists. Chris Bosh had a big game for the first time in the series, hitting two 3 pointers at the start of the game, and finishing with 25 points. Dwayne Wade added 15 for the Heat, and the bench contributed with 16 points. For Indiana it was the same story we saw in game 3, inconsistent offense and 14 turnovers. Paul George led the Pacers with 23 points while David West added 20. Luis Scola again came off the bench to provide a spark for the second straight game adding 12 points in almost 14 minutes of action. Roy Hibbert was a non-factor getting in foul trouble early, and was held scoreless.

Indiana came within 1 game of the NBA Finals last season, only to lose in game 7 to the Miami Heat. After the game 4 loss, Indiana seemed to be whining about some of the officiating, and if you look at the free throw attempts you might think they have a legitimate gripe, with Indiana getting to the line only 17 times compared to Miami’s 24 free throw attempts. Let’s be honest, that wasn’t the reason why they lost. Indiana is getting inconsistent play at point guard and they have too many dry spells offensively. If Indiana can slow the game down and play a physical brand of defense, they have a chance tonight. Can Miami beat this Indiana team 4 games in a row? Yes, they can…do I think it happens tonight? No. I really think Indiana gets their act together tonight. The main goal for the Pacers this season was to get the #1 seed; they believed this was their year. Well, they got the #1 seed, but the result has been disappointing. Miami has Indiana right where they want them, and I don’t see them bringing the same intensity that they’ve had the past 3 games. Indiana is in desperation mode, and I like them to force game 6 in Miami. No team wants to lose a series on their home court, and I don’t see that happening to Indiana tonight.
