Thursday NBA analysis: LeBron James will make his return since suffering a broken nose back on February 20th when the Miami Heat host the New York Knicks on Thursday night.

The Miami Heat have been one of the league’s hottest teams as of late, winners 8 out of their last nine games and are coming off a 14 point win last Sunday against Chicago without the services of LeBron James. James has been on a mission as of late, averaging 34 points in his last 5 games. Dwayne Wade appears to be healthy for the first time this season as he had one of his best games against Chicago. Wade atoned for James’ absence by scoring 23 points and getting 10 rebounds and 10 assists. The Heat look to be rounding into playoff form and it seems they have flipped the switch for the foreseeable future.

The New York Knicks haven’t been doing too well as of late. The Knicks have lost 6 out their last seven, and are currently 5 games out of the 8th seed in the Eastern conference. The Knicks made a valiant comeback against Dallas on Monday night, only to lose the game on a last second game-winner from Dallas’ Dirk Nowitski. Unfortunately, the game winner wasn’t the real story. Tuesday morning it was made known that point guard Raymond Felton was arrested on weapons charges. Those charges is in New York sure don’t bode well, just ask Plaxico Burress. Felton is reportedly going to play as he has not received punishment from the team or the league. Whether he will remains to be seen.

I’m backing the Heat on Thursday night. It’s a high number, but right now the Heat are clicking on all cylinders. Knicks coach Mike Woodson and guard Raymond Felton have told the media that the gun charge won’t be a distraction. Well, it will be. Right now you have to wonder what Carmelo Anthony is thinking let alone the rest of the team. They’re 5 games out of the playoffs, and their starting point guard might be out soon. Certainly the team could rally around Felton and support him, but it’s a distraction, plain and simple. These two teams are going in opposite directions. The Knicks are a mess, and the Heat are rolling. I have to back the home team tonight; I just simply can’t take the points with a team that is in such disarray.
