Thursday NBA analysis: Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers take on Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors in a key Pacific division tilt.

The Clippers have been one of the hottest teams in the league winners of 8 in a row. 2 of those wins was a road win at Oklahoma City, and an 8 point home victory over the Houston Rockets. The Clippers lead the league in scoring averaging 107.1 ppg. Their high scoring attack was definitely on display as they handed the cross-town rival Lakers a 142-94 beatdown, the Lakers worst home loss in team history. Blake Griffin has started to be mentioned as an MVP candidate, as he has definitely elevated his game this season averaging 24.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest. Chris Paul leads the league in assists (11 per game) and Deandre Jordan is leading the league rebounding (14 per game). They also added veteran Danny Granger into the mix, and it seems to be working out well as Granger contributed 23 points off the bench in their last outing.

The Golden State Warriors have won 8 out of their last 10 contests, and trail the Clippers by 4 games in the Pacific division. They are coming off a dominating 108-85 win over Dallas on Tuesday night. They are led by none other than Stephen Curry, who is averaging 23.3 ppg. Curry also leads the team in assists (8.6 apg) and steals (1.6). As a team they are averaging 103.6 ppg and are the second leading rebounding team in the NBA (45.5 rpg). They are one of the better teams on the defensive end, holding opponents to 98.5 ppg, and rank 3rd in the league in defensive efficiency.

I’m going to lay the points with the Clippers on Wednesday night. Golden State has won the last two contests against Los Angeles. Those two matchups were in Oakland, but when these teams met prior in the beginning of the season, the Clippers won in the Staples Center by 11. This year, Golden State is 7-5 SU when on the second night of a back to back. With 1 day of rest, the Clippers are an impressive 30-8 SU. Los Angeles raced out to a 25 point lead against Phoenix on Monday, yet failed to cover the large number and allowed Phoenix to get back into the game. They have lost 2 out of 3 to the Warriors, and with the way they are playing as of late, I don’t think they are going to let the Warriors win the season series. I’m expecting a maximum effort from the Clippers tonight, and I don’t think they will take their foot off the gas in this matchup. This year Los Angeles is 18-9 ATS when failing to cover in their last outing, and I expect them to cover the number tonight.
