White Sox vs. TigersDetroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox Monday Free MLB Pick: The Detroit Tigers are one of the hottest teams on the baseball betting lines out there, as they have won 17-of-20 going into Monday night’s series opener against the Chicago White Sox. That doesn’t mean that this one is going to be a walk in the park at US Cellular Field though, and we have a feeling that the boys from the Cell are going to be in for a good fight in this one with one of their best pitchers on the bump in this 8:10 p.m. ET start time.

MLB Odds: Tigers -110 / White Sox +103 (Total: 7.5)

There are points in every baseball season that you look at a spread and look at the line movement and shake your head. The Tigers, who have captured 17 out of 20 games, are only -110 in spite of the fact that they have 75% of the betting action on them early in the morning against a White Sox team that is 25-games behind them and without all that much of a chance of doing anything but finishing dead last in the AL Central. However, when you look at the matchup, you have to at least give this one a second glance. The Tigers are still struggling against lefties, and LHP Chris Sale shut them down the last time that he faced them back in July, allowing just two earned runs over eight innings of work. He got the loss on that day, but it clearly wasn’t deserved. Sale is 7-11, but he has a 2.77 ERA and has 161 strikeouts against just 35 walks in 149.1 innings of work. Take out the won/loss records for each men, and you wouldn’t know which set of stats belonged to the 7-11 Sale and which set belonged to the 17-1 RHP Max Scherzer. Lucky for Chicago, it isn’t Scherzer, but RHP Doug Fister who is dealing in this one. We like the chances for the White Sox to win this game at least half the time to make this a profitable venture on the MLB betting odds.
