Martin Perez RangersCincinnati Reds vs. Texas Rangers Friday Free MLB Pick: The Texas Rangers and the Cincinnati Reds are going to be facing off for the first time in over six years on Friday night in the first game of a three-game set in Arlington. We think that the ‘total’ in this game is just far too high at 9 ½ runs, as neither of these offenses have done all that much of late, and we think the time is here to take advantage of a soft line that is based more upon perception than reality.

With all of the big time bats that are sprawled around both of these lineups, it has to be easy to think that there will be plenty of runs on the board. However, when you take a closer look at the average stats for both of these teams, there is a lot left to be desired. Cincinnati only averages 4.39 runs per game on the season, and it is only batting .248 as a team. Texas ranks 12th in run production at 4.35 runs per game. The pitching matchup in this one is pretty darn good as well. RHP Johnny Cueto has a track record of having one of the more lively arms in the game, and he is going to bring his 4-1 record and 3.21 ERA into this one. He could have a bit harder time dealing with a lineup that has a DH in it, but he should be just fine. LHP Martin Perez has looked good in his first two starts in the majors, posting a 1-1 record and a 3.65 ERA. The kicker though, is the way that both offenses have been playing. Texas has scored just 15 runs in its last four games, including three runs or fewer in three of those four. Cincinnati has just 10 runs scored in its last four games and hasn’t exceeded five in a game since way back on June 11th. The ‘under’ is the play to make.

Reds vs. Rangers Free Pick for June 26th: Under 9 1/2
