St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs Tuesday Free Pick: The St. Louis Cardinals are streaking at the moment, and they have an unbeaten pitcher on the mound in MLB betting action on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field, where they visit the Chicago Cubs. These two teams are quite a long ways apart in the standings in the NL Central, but the oddsmakers are only just barely favoring the Cardinals in this one at -122. This is a relatively rare night game in the Windy City, as the first pitch gets thrown at 8:10 p.m. ET.

There isn’t much for Cubs fans to be happy about this year, but the pitching of LHP Travis Wood is definitely something to at least smile at for a bit. The offense has done him no favors this year, but when you just look at the splits that the southpaw has put up in 2013, you’d think that he is a 4-1 or so pitcher. Instead, a man that has a 26/12 K/BB ratio, a 0.91 WHIP, and a 2.50 ERA is just 2-2 and is fortunate to even be in that good of shape. The Cards are favored in this game because they have won six in a row and they have the 5-0 RHP Lance Lynn on the bump. We really don’t think as much of Lynn as we do of Wood, but we also know that these are the Cubs, and they have a knack of losing games like this one. That being said, we really love the idea of taking the run-line in this game. A -145 price on a home team at +1.5 with a pitcher with a 2.50 ERA on the mound is just too good to resist, especially since it is very clear that the Cardinals are the relatively square side overnight. Cardinals vs. Cubs Free Pick for May 7th: Take the Chicago Cubs +1.5 (-145)
