You’d love to get the feeling that the Rays could get back into this series and make a huge push at winning the World Series. However, when you really look at this team, it is living and dying by the one big shot, and the truth of the matter is that you can’t do that in the postseason and live to tell about it. The bottom line in Game 3 is that Manager Joe Maddon did a better job than Manager John Farrell of taking care of his team, and it seems remotely fitting that the man that was taken out of the game, DH David Ortiz probably ended up seeing his spot come up in the batting order when the team needed it most. Meanwhile, on the flip side, Tampa Bay got the game-winning homer in the ninth from C Jose Lobaton, who only came into the game because of all of the changes that Maddon made in the dying innings, including blowing his DH.

Tuesday’s Game 4 just doesn’t look good for Tampa Bay. RHP Jake Peavy doesn’t have the best history in the world of pitching in the postseason, but he is a veteran who was brought here to pitch in games like this. Meanwhile, RHP Jeremy Hellickson is clearly the worst starter that the Rays are bringing to the table, though we know that LHP Matt Moore and RHP Chris Archer are going to be ready to pitch in relief if need be. Unfortunately for the Rays, their luck is going to run out in Game 4. It was a nice push to create one more game, but in the end, there isn’t much hope for ultimately winning this series. We like the Sox to get to Hellickson early to give Boston a lead for the fourth time in this series, and this time, the Rays won’t have the magic to get on the comeback trail.
