Saturday NCAA analysis: The #4 Baylor Bears will look to yet again state their case for theBaylor vs. Oklahoma State BCS championship as they travel to Stillwater to take on the #10 Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have won six straight games since losing at West Virginia earlier in the season. Those six straight wins have been fairly impressive, with wins at Texas and at then ranked Texas Tech. The Cowboys possess a well balanced offense averaging 258.2 yards through the air and 171 yards on the ground per game while averaging 40.4 points per contest. Their defense has been consistent this year giving up 373.1 yards per game and 4.66 yards per play. The secondary is opportunistic giving up 239.5 yards per game yet leading the nation in interceptions with 19.

There’s no secret to why Baylor is the fourth 19 in the country, it’s offense and a lot of it. Heisman candidate Bryce Petty leads a Baylor offense that is number one in scoring averaging 61.2 yards per contest. They are also well balanced with 384.4 yards per through the air and also averaging 300 yards on the ground per game. The only time this Baylor team was challenged this year was at Manhattan against Kansas State winning by only 10. Last week was a flat spot for the Bears, coming off a big win against Oklahoma. They were challenged in this first half yet cruised to a 29 point victory. As impressive as their offense has been their defense has also played exceptionally well. The Baylor defense is ranked 11th in the country and total defense allowing 323 yards per game. The Bears can also get after the quarterback tallying 28 sacks on the year.

Baylor won their last contest without the services of two of their running backs. Big 12 leading rusher Lache Seastrunk and Glasco Martin were both out with injuries but are expected to be a go for Saturday night. I would expect to see a lot of points in this contest, even though Oklahoma State will try to limit possessions for Baylor, but that’s easier said than done. Baylor has met every challenge this year and has come out victorious, silencing doubters that had said they had a weak schedule early on in the year. It’s really hard to go against a team that has won every game by an average score of 42.6. Even with cold conditions and in a hostile environment, Baylor is the better team in all three facets of the game. The Cowboys will definitely be their stiffest test this year, but I expect Baylor to come out on top in a close one.
