2013 Free Buffalo Wild Wing Bowl Picks: The 7-52013 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl Picks Michigan Wolverines take on the 7-5 Kansas State Wildcats from Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.

The Michigan Wolverines had high hopes coming in to the 2013 season. After starting 5-0 and being ranked as high as 18th in the nation , a downward slide started shortly after. A quadruple overtime loss to Penn State started a tailspin as the Wolverines lost five out of their last seven games. In their last outing, Michigan took then #2 ranked Ohio State to the limit, only to lose 42-41 after a failed 2 point conversion. In the last four games of the season, quarterback Devin Gardner was playing his best football of the season, completing 61% of his passes for 971 yards with 8 touchdowns and zero interceptions. However, it was decided that freshman Shane Morris will get the start. Morris was highly touted, and the Michigan faithful were calling on him to start during Michigan’s struggles. Morris has completed only 5 of 9 passes on the season for 65 yards with zero touchdowns and 1 interception. The Wolverines averaged 252 yards passing and 130 yards rushing per game this season while averaging 33.8 points per game. The defense is respectable, ranking 37th in the FBS, allowing 367.4 yards per game while allowing 5.20 yards per play.

Kansas State had a rocky start to their season; they opened the 2013 campaign being upset by North Dakota State 24-21. They then collected wins against Louisiana-Lafayette and Massachusetts, but lost their first three conference games to Texas, Oklahoma State, and Baylor. The Wildcats turned their season around after that, winning five of their last six games, including a dominant 49-26 win at then ranked Texas Tech. They possess a well balanced offense led by quarterback Jake Waters, who has completed 59.2% of his passes for 2198 yards with 15 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Junior wide receiver Tyler Lockett is the main target, with 71 receptions for 1146 yards and 8 touchdowns. Senior running back John Hubert leads the backfield, with 968 yards and 9 touchdowns, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. The Wildcat defense is ranked 35th in the FBS, allowing 367 yards per game.

Kansas State will be looking to get head coach Bill Snyder his first bowl victory in 11 years and I think they get the job done in Tempe. When a team has lost four of its last five games, a quarterback change for a bowl game has to be questioned. Not only that, but putting in a true freshman that has taken only 9 snaps on the season is puzzling. The offense loses continuity after a month off, and now with a quarterback that has seen little live action during the season, it makes the situation all the more difficult. I like the run that Kansas State has been on after their rough start, and I think they end the season on a high note with a big win over the maize and blue.
