Elite Eight – Syracuse vs. Marquette Free Pick: There is only one team that is the higher ranked seed that is favored over the lower ranked seed in the Elite Eight. The Syracuse Orange know that they have a chance to really make a statement, even as the No. 4 seed in the East Region, as they’ll challenge the Marquette Golden Eagles, one of the upstarts of the dance in the final round of the NCAA Tournament prior to the Final Four. These two Big East foes will clash on familiar grounds at the United Center. Syracuse is giving four points on the college basketball odds, and the ‘total’ is the lowest of the four games for the weekend at just 128.

History is most certainly something that is key here for the Orange and the Golden Eagles. They obviously have met each other a ton in recent years, including earlier this season at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. That game easily flew past the number, as there were 145 points put on the board. This time around, most are looking at what the Syracuse defense is doing and are getting scared. Yes, we have to admit that the 2-3 zone has looked awfully scary over the course of this tournament, especially after holding the Indiana Hoosiers to just 50 points and a total of 16 field goals. Marquette though, has an offense that knows what it is doing against this defense, having prepared for it time and time again. Don’t get us wrong; this isn’t going to be a game where the scoreboard operators are having a tough time keeping up. Not nearly. However, to get to 128 isn’t all that difficult. Every single meeting that these two have had since they came together in the Big East has featured at least that many points, and there is no reason not to think that that won’t be the case once again on Saturday afternoon.
